01. Your nervous system is overworked. But what if a softer life could fix that?

Chronic stress, nervous system exhaustion, survival mode, and soft living — a reflection for ambitious women learning how to reconnect with themselves again

I think a lot of modern women are living in survival mode without even realizing it.

Not because our lives necessarily look chaotic on the outside. Sometimes it’s the opposite. We’re getting after it. High-functioning. We show up to work, try to stay healthy, maintain relationships, work on our business idea, chase goals — and maybe pour back into ourselves at the end of the day.

Here’s the realization though. Underneath all the motion, is a nervous system that feels overwhelmed and unsafe.

And when enough time goes by, survival mode starts to become your whole personality.

You might think producing more means you’re ambitious. Or that independence means you’re strong. You might even think always being “on” means you’re disciplined. Meanwhile your body is quietly begging you to slow down long enough for it to catch its breath.

The bloating.
The exhaustion.
The anxiety.
The inability to rest without guilt.

Are all symptoms of survival mode. Resulting in a chronically stressed out body. Healing isn’t just emotional, it’s physical too. Our bodies have no choice but to endure how we choose to live our life.

And I think that’s why so many of us are craving more softness now.

Not because we don’t want ambition anymore, but because we’re tired of feeling physically at war with ourselves while trying to achieve it.

Lately I’ve been asking myself what it would take to build a beautiful life that allows me to live well in my body too.

Honestly, that’s the version of success I’m searching for now.
